While oval dirt tracks have been a staple of racing across the southern part of the United States, it is the oval asphalt racing that really caught on and developed into what we now know as NASCAR. But not everyone is ready to run the high-banked ovals so the short asphalt tracks have developed a big following.
Helping to fuel that following, is the Gulf Coast Racing Series, with promoter Gina Schild Knowles leading the way. There are two tracks in the series, one in Houston and one in Mobile, each with it's own unique racing. Gina joins us with an update on the series and an upcoming $10k purse night at Houston Motorsports Park.
